Reviews about Epworth Geelong

  • Brilliant hospital with Top Staff. Stayed 6 days last year and back soon for five weeks. Looking forward to it with its excellent food (thanks to hiring chefs!!), fantastic medical staff and awesome location. 4th fl room had views from YouYangs to Clifton Springs and peacefully quiet. Better than any hotel in Geelong. The build and room fit outs have been very well designed and quality furnishings throughout. Emergency is equally well done with the same amazing staff and unlike any emergency rooms I have seen. A credit to Epworth Geelong and setting the standards for where hospitals should be at. Thank you all! Only suggestion is to add some info on the website about long term stays at the in-house rehab wardâ˜ș

My wife was released from your hospital yesterday after having been there since the 1st of August. I'm in the USA. Whenever I go to a hospital here they automatically bill my insurance who then issues them payment. Afterwards the hospital sends me a bill for any amounts that the insurance didn't cover. Before my wife was even admitted, Epworth demanded about a $3000 payment. Then while she was there they wanted an additional payment of almost $11,000 which I also paid. The email I received just stated it was for 9 nights medical bed fee. Epworth also wanted full payment made before she was to be discharged. But she was in a hurry to get home since she was now on oxygen and couldn't get any more oxygen until she got home so didn't speak to the billing people before leaving. Today she got 3 phone calls from Epworth demanding payment. She asked them to send me an email detailing the charges. Epworth won't even bother contacting my insurance company and at one point even said the bill was to be an estimated bill. That's not good enough to be submitted to insurance. In addition, she was told to pay within 14 days after being billed but instead is being harassed on her first day at home. So now I am expected to pay almost $30,000 out of my own pocket before I even submit anything to my insurance! I will be contacting Epworth on Monday to sort this out. Aside from all this there were many delays seeing various doctors. My wife should have been able to come home much sooner. The physical therapy could have been done at Grace Mckeller far cheaper. The food may have been great but in the end I just felt like they were not concerned about how long she was at Epworth, nor were they concerned about all the money that would have to be paid before my insurance was even notified. P.S The name that will be displayed with this review is not mine. In the interests of my and my wife's privacy, I will not allow it to be made public.

  • I recently had an operation at the Epworth and both the anaesthetist (Andrew) and the surgeon (Glenn Guest) were very informative and reassuring about my procedure. All the nurses were fantastic. The level of care and the comfort of the room was very high. I felt as though I was in great hands the entire time. The facility itself is modern, technologically advanced, spacious and very clean. The food options and quality were also very good compared to other hospitals. Overall, a truly exceptional hospital. Thank you all!
